natural acne soap:Review: Shea Terra Organics African Black Soap
Here’s my thoughts on the new soap I purchased recently. Here’s what it says on the back of the bottle: African black soap has long been used to remedy acne, blenishes, dark spots, razor bumps and even reduce fine lines. Its potency is derived from the ash of locally harvested plants and barks. Shea Terra utilizes this active extract to formulate an invigorating elixir for clearer, younger looking skin. Pros: Cleanses WELL Stimulates your circulation to help heal your skin and help its natural oil production (for me anyway) Exfoliates and cleanses so you don’t need a toner. This is a soap and toner in one. @mari42000 i just use it a couple three times a week now, but I still def use it!
So are you still using the shea terra for your cleanser?
MMM I love fruity pebbles! I just ordered the Lemongrass and a sample of the Rose Hip… if the lemongrass smells like fruity pebbles it’s a winner for me! haha
Plus I have used lemongrass products before and love the scent. I think it’s important to note that even the ‘scented’ ones are just scented w/ natural essential oils (lemongrass or peppermint) and not artificial fragrance. Lemongrass essential oil is good for acne
@tamaam1 Also, someone a long while back mentioned they spoke to a shea terra rep on the phone and they didn’t recommend the lemongrass or the mint marrakesh to be used on the face. what is your opinion on this?
@tamaam1 thanks for that information! I’ll try and pass it on

@luxjewels Hello,
I work for the company. The soap mentioned here was only slightly changed, which means that rose hips oil was added and some herbs changed but that is all and it is actually a little better than this one although that is hard to beat. Potassium Hydroxide is listed as saponified olive oil, etc. on other soaps. All soaps contain either this or Sodium Hydroxide. You can not get soap without it. It is what changes oils to soap. It is electrified salt.

@mollzz I’d not do it more than once a day. lately I do it more like once every other day or as a mask. =D
hey Gina! Sorry if I missed it, but do you use these once or twice a day? I’m trying it out tonight and am so excited! Got the mint one off of a blog sale and the scent is FABULOUS but I’m worried it might be harsh for twice a day.
@luxjewels I cant believe they would change somthing that was so good and popular! Im hoping the new formula still works awesome for me, because nothing has ever made my skin look as nice as this, and if the new stuff sucks, Imm on the search again!
Are you going to try the new formulation Gina? Im almost done my bottle, and I think Im gonna try the new version out…I REALLY hate when they go and change something we all love…lets hope its better and not complete crap now! This stuff keeps my skin SO clear, and I loved how it didnt have much ingredients, and now they through in all this other stuff!
@luxjewels Ooh! HAve you tried the black soap in bar form at all? There’s a lady that sells them by the bar for $3.00 all homemade. I found it through CBVictoria. She used both and said they do the same thing, and the homemade one being even more pure and fewer ingredients could be a positive, even though it lacks shea butter.
I emailed Shea Terra in regards to the discrepancy on the ingredients listed on my bottle and on other supplier websites and received a response that did not answer my question in regards to the ingredients but only that the product is no longer available. It has been replaced with Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Wash & Mask. The ingredients in the new version differ and it does contain Potassium Hydroxide, so those looking for this product may be out of luck soon =(
Great video! I love the ORIGINAL =S
Did anyone notice the INGREDIENTS CHANGED in the Rose Hip Red Bush? It no longer contains SUNFLOWER OIL (non pore clogging oil) and now contains SODIUM HYDROXIDE (skin irritant) according to the company website? I’ve emailed them but just wanted to let those know who may be ordering online to check the ingredients if you may be sensitive or have a skin allergy.
Mint/Lemongrass both contain Potassium Hydroxide which can also be a skin irritant.
Can you buy this at a store? Whole Foods? I want to try this, trying to find all natural cleanser
I just received the red bush black soap in the mail today and was kinda disappointed in the size. It reminded me of a trial size for $20 after s&h! I know that it was only 4oz but it will be good to try out. If i plan to purchase another bottle I will go for the bigger sizes. Love you Gina
How long is the shelf life for all three products? Because you purchased all three at the same time and I was considering doing the same because of shipping rates, so I was curious as to whether ordering all three at once would cause one or more of the cleansers to expire by the time it came time for use.
I first started using this soap about 2 weeks ago. At first I loved it. My skin felt so wonderful, but in the last few days my face started getting red and irritated and then it broke out. *sigh*
I guess haha some companies dont expect to get a bunch of orders in at once and they run out before they can restock. That happened to me when I ordered the Shea Terra argan oil and they gave me back the shipping.
nope! No bubbles at all on my face. Best I can describe it is it creams up w/out foaming or bubbles
Man.. it sold that fast?
oh I ordered some and they contacted me and said they were on back order and it would be a week till they got a new shipment in. Just to warn people, it wont be as fast as maybe you wanted!!
Does it lather when you add water to it? The redbush one? because mine is really foamy!
AHHA tell em to hurry up and get it out of africa!
I’m so glad you like it, too! I’ve never had a cleanser that shows such a difference in such a short time!
