Q&A: Best acne product for skin allergic to benzoyl peroxide?
Question by FakeTomato: Best acne product for skin allergic to benzoyl peroxide?
I happen to be one of the lucky few people who can’t use anything with benzoyl peroxide in it because it gives me an itchy swelling rash. It seems like all of the best products for acne contain this ingredient. They actually WORK before I get the rash!
Is there any good product out there that won’t kill my skin?

Acne products ruin your skin. You won’t see the effects until your late 20′s/early 30′s if you start using them as a teen. I say from experience. Benzoyl Peroxide is not good for anybody’s skin in the long run. I’d stay away from all products and look for natural ways to get rid of your acne.

go natural.
read your labels before buying, it may take some time but at least you won’t break out and feel bad.
your first 2 ingredients are usually the most in a product but if it has any benzoyl peroxide in it, I wouldn’t trust it.

Use products with Salicylic Acid. It’s also a popular acne fighter derived from willow tree bark and helps unclog pores and exfoliate the skin from the inside out.
Proactiv actually has a gentle formula specifically for people who are allergic to BP that has Salicylic Acid.
There are a lot of good natural acne treatments. Of course prevention is the best medicine. Here are some things you can do:
* Become an antibacterial fanatic. Cleanse your face with an antibacterial cleanser, wipe the phone with an antibacterial wipe before you you use it, and be sure that your hands are clean when you touch your face.
Change your pillowcase often! Bacteria builds up and that can cause you to break out.
Don’t use a cloth or a sponge to wash your face. If you do be sure to change or wash it daily.
Be sure to drink plenty of water, which can help flush the toxins from your body.
Eat a healthy low fat diet, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and keep away from processed foods. Avoid too much dairy because it has been shown to increase the sebum production.
Exfoliate. Getting rid of those dead skin cells will keep them from clogging your pores.
Get plenty of rest and relax. Stress can cause an outbreak of acne.
Vitamin B5 has been know to prevent acne, but it may also cause you intestinal problems.
If your acne is really severe, you definitely should see a dermatologist. They might prescribe antibiotics, or other prescription medications.
