Does summer heat and lack of exercise play a role in acne breakouts?
Question by mirin: Does summer heat and lack of exercise play a role in acne breakouts?
My skin has been breaking out nonstop lately. Before summer started I got lots of stress due to a combination of school and menstrual periods, but I’ve never had breakouts that lasted this long. It’s been more than a month already. What I’m wondering is if the heat makes skin worse, or if a lack of exercise makes breakouts more frequent.

yes and what you eat and how often you wash your face.
I’m honestly not sure about the exercise portion of it, but it can definitely be the heat. I think any change in your lifestyle, like maybe stopping exercise, could do it though.
its probably because you are perspiring in the heat and not cleaning up enough… excercise would probaby make it worse, all the advise I can give you is to wash your face about 1 or 2 more times in a day.
Sweat -can- make you break out more and if the heat is causing you to sweat a lot, then yes.
if you want to get rid of your acne lay out in the sun for atleast an hr daily yea its bad for you but it drys up all the oils in your skin and drys out yuor acne just wear sunscreen
Kind of. The sweat clogs your pores and that is what triggers acne. Just wash your face regularly in the summer and it will reduce the outbreaks.
my grandma used to say drink loads and loads of water to stop acne breakout and bath often
Summer heat and lack of washing properly is a cause in acne breakouts. We do more things in the summer such as plants gardens, walk in the woods, go to the beach all this adds extra dirt to our skin and if we don’t wash our face and hands more often the pores clog!
Have a nice day!
my shoulders broke out last week and are just now healing, but i was in the sun for two days in a sleevless shirt and i think it was just all the sweating i did. stay cool and keep your arms dry and you shouldnt break out again.
Yes, the heat, the sweat and what you eat all play a part in what you are experiencing. I think you should try some Oxy pads, they are great for killing the ones you have and then stopping new ones…
good luck to you!
Wash your face and hair everyday, or keep your hair in a ponytail or headband. The heat can make you sweat and make hair oily, so when your hair gets in your face, you get breakouts.
it has made my skin break out like crazy uh
No, stress and your diet does if it consists alot of junk food .
excess heat can cause you to sweat which can clog your pores also sunscreen can sometimes cause break-outs. Use a very mild soap (ask the pharmacist) and wash 2 – 3 times a day if you are sweating
yeah the heat can clog your pors. the best thing to do is wash your face with oil of olay exfoliating face cloths after you’ve been outside.
yea lack of exercise could be a very resonible answer because when u exercise u get all of the bad things out of your body like fat and to much fat could very much cause acne
heat does cause acne, specially if you have oily skin. plus if you use sunblock you have to be careful that it does not close or block pores (it would have that written)
Drink plenty of water! it does wonders to your skin.
Use neutragina liquid soap for oily skin.
remove all make up before bed.
The heat and the sweat tend to clog up pores and make it less likely for you to have clear skin. The best treatment for this believe it or not isn’t dry skin. It is well balanced nourished skin. Your diet also plays a huge part in this. Anytime you overeat crappy foods, ie cakes, candies, greasy foods, processed foods, fast food…it takes a toll on your body. Stick with whole foods and lean meats. Also how old are you? Hormones can play a huge part in oil production that causes acne.
Exercise can really help to release the toxins in your body through sweat. Sometimes if you sweat and the toxins stay on your skin for a long time, you can develope acne from that. The best solution for healthy skin is to ….
1. Eat a healthy diet to eliminate toxins and excess oils. Also drink as much water as possible and limit sodas or eliminate them altogether.
2. Exercise daily until you sweat to release toxins and help clear your pores. Shower immediatly after exercise to wash off any oil buildup on your skin.
3. Get some sun. Get outside without sunscreen for 15-30 minutes everyday. Sunscreen can also block pores. The sun has a way of helping out many skin problems. Do not burn!
4. Get yourself a skin care line and stick to it. Proactive is a really great skin care line. Make sure you use it properly and use it daily.
5. Try a microdermabrasion. That seems to help me. I use the one by Neutrageana.
6. If none of these work, see your Dr. and ask about going on the pill. I know a lot of girls who had trouble skin and within weeks of starting the pill, their skin cleared right up.
both play a role in acne breakout. in the heat, your person perspires opening up your pores, and you can develop oily skin and hair. combined with the dust and dirt on your face and skin, your pores trap it all and you breakout. to prevent this from happening you can wash twice a day to remove the oils and dirt from your face and body. also exercising will allow you to break sweat and hence empty your pores. but you have to wash up afterwards to clean yourself of the sweat dirt and oils from the workout so it doesn’t get trapped in your pores. the key is to keep clean. i’ve not used moisturizer in the summer because my face naturally emits oils and it keeps my face supple. i find when i moisturize, combined with my natural oils i have to wash more frequently to prevent dirty pores. if you have drier skin, you may need to moisturize after every wash so that you don’t dry out your skin from all the washing.
yes it does make you break out more. heat not eating right or not enough water. all cause to more breakouts. this article has some great skincare tips and home remedies for acne that will help you
less exercise isnt good for the body, when it gets rid of the grease.
YES. Exercising makes your skin clearer and healthier all over. You need to cleanse afterwards though b/c sweat can actually make you break out more (which is probably what you’re experiencing from the heat). But sun can also cause you to break out. Try to keep your face in the shade and use a good, non-oily SPF for sensitive skin, and cleanse whenever you’ve been sweating. Drink lots of water too!! That helps a lot. For a topical solution, I’ve come up with a cheaper version of Proactiv which has helped me a lot. You’d need to buy:
1. a gentle cleanser (like Cetaphil or Spectro jel)
2. a good toner/astringent (like Clean & Clear)
3. a 2.5%-5% benzoyl peroxide cream (Spectro vanishing cream or Clean & Clear persa-gel 5) C&C 10 is available but that can seriously irritate your skin. Try to get something for “sensitive skin” to reduce the risk of allergies or irritation.
4. a gentle facial moisturizer (like Moisturel – it’s important that the moisturizer you use isn’t oily or heavy, it has to be for sensitive skin and quick absorbing and light)
When you’ve gone through the first 2 steps of cleansing your face and applying the toner, make sure your fingertips are clean and put a drop (size of a small pea) of the benzoyl cream and a drop of the moisturizer on your fingertip and mix together. Apply to your entire face and gently massage in. Do this everyday (once or twice) and you should see results in 2 weeks if not sooner. You may find that you get a few more minor pimples when you first start using it, but that’s just the dormant ones coming to the surface. If you find your face gets too dry, try using bit more lotion than the benzoyl cream, OR apply more moisturizer afterwards. And if you have 1 or 2 really bad/big pimples put a separate dab of the benzoyl cream directly on them. Good luck!
